SMPTE W25 Committee MXF Development

This SMPTE MXF Implementers Working Group (formally W25.10) is a subgroup of the SMPTE W25 Wrappers and Metadata Committee and has subsumed the work of the industry group previously known as mxFIG. It has been created by the SMPTE as part of its continuing commitment to the industry as the MXF interchange format rolls out.

Promoting interoperability between MXF implementations.
Providing a platform for users and industry to pose questions and requests for guidance and best practices on MXF implementation,
Analyzing ambiguities leading to MXF variations and propose solutions.
Identifying areas where new MXF standards are required and providing adequate SMPTE due process specifications
Maintaining up to date MXF status information on the group’s website
Providing Advisory notes/reports which aid the MXF implementation community
Preparing a test & measurement guideline for MXF
Liaising with the AAF Association and responding to Zero Divergence Doctrine issues affecting MXF from, for example, the AAF community
